Kumbha Muni Siddha

Kumbha Muni Siddha

A Siddha is one who ever dedicates his soul towards Lord Parameswara and attains salvation with his benefication. As one who has transformed himself into Siva by repeatedly thinking about Siva, he is devoid of old age, grey hairs, illness or disease or death. He is also beyond the frontiers of the sway of Navagrahas. He is ever efflorescent with fragrant divinity.

With the practice of yoga and rigorous austerities they controlled not only the senses but also their lives and retained the vital energy of foce to whatever possible limit of time they desired to have. While doing so they would render other senses to minimum possible limit of vibration of existence or at times concentration of mind on one object and perfect absorption there on the Supreme State. In such circumstances divinity will be vibrating all over the ambience. When temples are raised in such places where Jiva samadhi has been consigned earlier, grace, benedication and vital force will be seen enveloping all around in a series of waves, the pre-eminent of all the Sixty four siddhas was the sage Agastya.

Once in Mt. Kailas multitudes of people congregated in the north to witness the divine wedding of Sri Parameswara. So the northern half of the earth went down and the south went up and the equilibrum of balance got deranged and the earth was unable to strike a balanmce and equentially she became perturbed over the imbalance. Seeing this the Lord asked the sage Agastya to processed to the south to strike a fair balance. While Kumbha muni was having a so journ at this temple Sri Rama visited this temple and he blessed Sri Rama and suggested to him the ways and means of getting the efficacy of Rudraksha mantra from Sri Parameswara to be later on utilized during his war with Ravana. Then the Siddha reached Podhigai where he remained in yoga for several years. Long after that, when he decided to attain Jeeva Samadhi he reached Kumbakonam and worshipped Sri Adi Kumbeswara and Sri Mangala nayaki and remained at the south western corner of the outer circumbulatory path facing east ever in meditation of the Lord and Sri Ambal. He confined and consigned himself in Jiva Samadhi and still remains there in vibrating vital force of energy, conferring grace and benedication to all.
